Has your child school ever been on lock down? Does the school contact all the parents? they did a lock down drill last year for the first time and should be doing another one this year. In case of a real lockdown, they will do a mass email out to all parents who have signed up for emial notifications for closing and delays. They will also broadcast on the local radio stations. The evacuation safe place is a local church and that is where parents will be pick up their kids in case of the real thing.
The high school my older ones go to had a mock emergency. Where there is a gunman, shoots fired, kids 'shot' all that fun stuff(Nick and Kimber were upset they didn't get 'killed')
All of the parents knew about it and that the district schools would be on lock down, even ran it on the tv a few days before. But I didn't say anything to the gradeschool kids since that is just something they have to grow up with now, a shame as it is.
