My 6 yr old son recently started having more frequent accidents. One here or there would happen, seemed normal. Now he's had one everyday his older step sister has babysat him. Does not happen when he is with me or step dad, does not happen when he stays at my friends, only for the 13 yr old step sister. Step dad wants me to take him to the doctor and I don't think it is a medical issue, what should I do?
Are you sure she is treating him appropriately? Is she allowing him to use the bathroom? Is she being mean at all to him where his emotional response is having accidents? Does he have any issues with her? Have you tried talking to him and asking him why he does this when she is watching him? IMO it seems like there may be some kind of issue with her whether it be he doesn't like her for some reason or she's not treating him nicely or something else, maybe see if someone else can watch him for a couple of weeks, if it stops and then starts up again when she goes back to watching him then there may be a problem there.
I agree, it seems like he has an issue with his stepsister. I would ask him what the deal is, because it seems like a deep rooted emotional issue rather than a medical issue
