My K'er wants to have a sleepover with one of the girls from her class. Is this too early to start sleepovers?

I don't think so; it's fun for them! And especially if it's just with one other girls instead of 5 or something lol. I was 9 when I had my first sleepover party; I didn't like it at the time, but that was just because of who I was. If you think your girl can handle it, then I don't see why not I guess it depends if she's spent a night without you before? Like at grandparents or aunts/uncles? I had never done that either when I was 9, but Anna has (she's 7, slept at my brother and sister-in-law's place a few times), and that always went well, so if she was invited I think I would let her

I don't think it's too early if you know the family well. Brinlee had her first sleepover in kindergarten, it was with a girl from her Girl Scout troop and the girl's mom is the leader of the troop. I felt comfortable with it because I knew the family.

If you don't know the family and are uncomfortable, perhaps you can start off with small play dates and get to know the family more before doing a sleepover.

I agree with the others, if it's just one and they're both wanting to do it I don't think it's too early at all.

If you think she's ready for it, I don't see why not!

I was very protective of my DD and didn't let her have a sleepover until she was 11, even though she begged me for years. I didn't know the parents very well. Now her and her friend are having sleep overs all the time. On the other hand my DS was 6 when he had his first sleep over but I knew the mom and felt comfortable with it. So I guess it depends on whether you know the parents of the girl and if you feel okay with you DD staying there.
