Do you use summer reading programs at your local library to keep your gradeschoolers reading?

She'll happily read without needing much encouragement, so no. We'll go to the library on her last day of school (still got 3 weeks here) and get a few books, then we'll pop back throughout the summer whenever she's finished those and ready for some new ones.

Yes, our library does. Every year since my DS has been in school I've signed him up. His 2nd grade teacher got him into the Magic Tree House series. So those are the books he's been picking to read. He has went to the local flea markets and found some and was so proud to buy some of them with his own money. One great motivation to finish the summer reading program is the ice cream party they have for the kids who do it.

We normally do it every year, although this year, my daughter is still reading, but not keeping up with the library's chart. I am just happy she is reading :-)
