Normally I will create 13 to 14 meals then create my shopping list on those meals. It was such a headache though thinking of 14 meals that would last my family 2 weeks, but it was so great not to have to stress about what we are going to eat and running to the store at the last minute. I would like to know what other's do when it comes to meal planning. Let's share some of our meal planning tips?

I do the same as you! we get paid every other wednesday, so I do a big grocery shopping trip that day for the next 2 weeks. I have the same problems as you. I get stuck in the same meals and it gets boring.

Actually, tomorrow is shopping day, so I have to make my menu and list today. We're visiting my parents for a week, so I only need half as many meals, but it's still being difficult!

For the most part I buy versatile meats like chicken and pork at Costco. I don't really plan too far ahead. It's more of "Hey this could be really good!" DH drives right past Walmart on his way home so it's no big deal if I need an ingredient I don't have.

Dh has a sensory disorder so our food choices are limited. We eat pretty much the same things every week, with a new food added in once in a while.

We're one of those weird families that shops daily, or every other day. We do a big shop once every two weeks for household stuff and basic food items, but we generally plan daily for the evening meal.

...not the best system, but we found by shopping once a week we were eating too much, and things that should last, didn't.

I'd like advice on planning meals that I could cook on the weekends (or prep) that could be heated up during the week. I love to cook, but after a long day of work and a long commute I don't really feel like cooking. We have limited freezer space so that makes it harder for me to think of things.

You think 14 meals is a headache? lol I do my whole months menu ahead of time.

Usually I do it in day themes. Like Mondays are quick meals (cuz I hate mondays)

Tuesdays are soup (crock pot all day, so Im on time for chat on JM lmao),

Wednesdays italian (homemade pizza, spaghetti, lasagna)

Thursdays are homecookin (minute steaks with sides, pork chops n sides, meatloaf)

Fridays are mexican (tacos, enchiladas, santa fe chicken salad)

Saturdays are fattening meals (Dh is on a diet, but I let him slide on the weekends) stuff like buffalo wings n fries, burgers n fries, nachos and what not

Sundays are grilling (Mommys day off) BBQ pork, chicken, hotdogs, veggies, what ever we got

I figure up my menu for the month (it varies month to month) I try to get things that can be reused,

I.e. for thursday homecooked meals if we have corn as a side, that corn is used as a topping for the santa fe salad on friday.... if we have bbq pork on sunday, we have pig n chips on monday (nachos with pork, cheese and veggies on it) etc...

I shop for everything at one time after matching up my coupons to the sale ads. And I shop BY MYSELF and only get whats on the list
