I use stainless steel and prefer it for most things. I've ordered from foodservicewarehouse.com a couple of times - I'm hesitant to recommend them because both times there have been issues with the items not being in stock (and us not being told about it until after we had paid), have had a couple of items show up dented (although they made up for that by sending us new ones and allowing us to keep the dented ones, too) - but the products I have, I like very much.
Personally, I'm kind of anti-single-use-kitchen-gadgets. I can steam things just fine without an appliance for it, and it saves me money and counter/cabinet space. I would go with some kind of insert over an appliance.

I bought a set of non stick Cuisinart pots and pans from Herbergers about 2-3 years ago and they are holding up pretty well. They are starting to show some dings around the edges and where they have rubbed on each other in the cabinet but that is it. We do not use metal utensils on them at all which helps. I also hand wash them instead of putting them in the dish washer.

i like cast iron (makes the best cornbread & frying chicken), but i'm a non-stick kinda girl now...so stainless steel is not for me; can't recommend anything there. i do tend to use farberware non-stick...just got a new set a couple days ago.
