i like to cook ham i cut into cubes in a pan then i put some brown sugar in there and maybe little bit of honey .... cook it a bit longer and its all kindsa yummy!!

(then i like to toss it in what i call a shannon salad ... which i will be putting my approximate recipe on in a diff post for those who are interested. )

either way i wanted to post here what happened during my last shannon salad creation .... i had no brown sugar ...

so instead ... i added some splenda ... cause i had no sugar either .... LOL .. and maple syrup!!!

worked like a charm the ham was sooo great tasting!!! you can also add sugar and molasses if you have that i hear .. but yeah i dont have molasses sitting around normally.

well i hope this helps someone in the future in some way .... or at least made you laugh at how unprepared i was as i had no regular OR brown sugar LOL

I just love times like that where you start fixing something just to find out you don't have all the ingredients! That happened to me this last June when I was making my DS's birthday cake! I had to find a new frosting recipe ASAP! LOL! I had heard the sugar with molasses substitute before (but I also don't keep molasses on hand). Great to know that splenda and maple syrup work. I don't usually keep splenda on hand either though. I wonder if sugar and maple sugar would work?? Would love to see your recipe!

well i used splenda since i had no regular sugar ... the lady who recommended the maple syrup used regular sugar when she made her ham ...

BUT ... yeah didnt have that either LOL so splenda it was!
