I've always wanted to make tamales but never dared try because they seem hard to make.

I want to give creme brulee' a try. for some reason the whole idea of the "water bath" makes me nervous. what that is is you place your bowls/ramikins in another pan filled with water and then you bake it.

It doesn't sound terribly difficult...I guess I'm just afraid I'll ruin it.

I'd also like to try to make banana foster.

I've always wanted to try and make a loaf of bread, but the whole 'yeast/dough rising' just really scares me.

I've always wanted to try to make Hush Puppies. I just loved fried jalapeo corn bread.

Squeek - You should try making a creme brulee. It's a lot easier than you think it is. Just don't melt the sugar topping if the container is on a plastic surface. That's just a bad idea.

Don't be afraid Sam! Do you have a thermometer? You can use it to measure your water so you're extra sure it's the right temperature. It's a lot of fun too.. I bet Grace would have a blast helping you knead and punch down the dough!
