I am scheduled to get a D&C in a few days, and I wanted to ask about what your experiences were with IV and spinal anesthesia. I have had both in the past, and would prefer the spinal because I hate feeling loopy, but I understand that the IV anesthetic gets you in and out faster. If you had spinal, how long did you end up having to stay?
A little background: I was 12 weeks pregnant with my second child when I found out I'd had a missed miscarriage at 7 weeks. I suspected something wasn't right for a while, though. When I found out, the doctor told me my options and let me go to make my decision, but I ended up cramping and passing tissue within 24 hours. I was hoping that I'd gotten rid of all the tissue, but it's been 3 weeks and the ultrasound shows that there is still some left. I don't want to risk infection, and I'm ready to get this all past and move on (and try again).
