I know it is kinda early to think about it but Rachel can read 4 letter words and type 32 words on a computer page. She is reading beginner books. I think she is ready for Kindergarden. The local school district told us absolety not but I am looking into either Home schooling or Catholic Schooling. If you had to choose which would you do? Is anyone else thinking about Kindergarden yet?

Here in Canada we start JK at 4, so Isabelle started this past September. It is awesome! She is doing so great. She can already write her name and she's been copying other wods as well. She can recognize most of the letters and loves to 'read' along with me. It's a full day program, which is nice, because she gets to play from 8:30am - 3pm with other kids.

Kindergarten is at 5 here, so Holden starts in September right before his birthday

In Ohio the cutoff age is Aug.1 to turn 5. I'm in the process of Filing for Accelerated entrance into Kindergarden. She is in a head Start Program but she is so advanced they are having trouble keeping her challenged at school. She is doing more than the 5 year olds in her class.

I am in Canada too, although not in Ontario. Jorja will start kindergarten in September. She can't wait. She is constantly talking about going to Bubby's school when she turns 5.

Adriana will not be able to start until after she turns five. Her birthday is in late September.

Allie will just be starting PreK this coming fall. They have to be 5 by Aug 1st here, and she won't be 5 until Aug 30th, so she will start Kindergarten right before she turns 6 (just like her brother did).

December 1st is the cutoff here. So fortunately Maddie will start Kindergarten this year. I think she's the youngest in the playroom since she was stubborn and born in October:-) I was thinking that it would save me tons in daycare expenses, but I'll need a before school and after school program so it's going to be about the same:-0
Maddie goes to daycare 3 days a week and the teacher says that she is ready for Kindergarten. Maddie can't wait because she won't have to take naps.

Cut off here is Sept 1 so Marcus misses it by 2 days. He'll be starting a preschool program in the fall though and I'm excited about it.

I am also in Canada ( Ontario ) so kindergarten starts at 4 but the cut off is dec 31st so a lot of kids , like Tayden are 3 when they start.
I can't imagine that a kid would be almost 6 by the time they start school! What a shame to miss out on that window of opportunity when their minds are so open to learning.
Tayden is in a Montessori school this year and she also is reading books with 2-5 letter words and can print and spell a ton of stuff. I couldn't imagine her not being in school.

Good luck with finding something to stimulate her

Personally, even though I am trained as a teacher, I don't think I could home school my kid. Honestly I can't answer the "why?" questions any longer....depending on my mood. Plus I really like the social atmosphere of school and think that kids benefit from learning from other kids. So my suggestion would be Catholic school for the year if you can swing it or any other private school. But do some tours of the schools you are considering and then decide. Good luck!
