HI Ladies,
I am writing because I am VERY worried about my sister. I don't know if anyone on here has Lupus but if you know anything about it you wuld be a great help to me.
About a month ago she went to the Dr with a rash on her face. He gave her cream and then said 'I am 98% sure you have lupus'. He then gave her all the paper work to see 600 dofferent specialists. She has at least 80% of the symptoms... Sore joints, swelling, sun sensivity, the list goes on. The rash has since cleared up but she still has everything alse. Especially in her hands and wrists.....
I guess my questionis. CAn the rash clear up? Sould she still go and see these Drs? She hasn't even made appointments! She is only 25 and I realise this is a huge life altering thing to get landed on you at 25 but I feel she still needs to get it checked out. She is moving home to live with my parents for a while and I am hoping Mum can get her started. I would personallytake her to the Drs but I live in Canada and she is in australia. I just can't go running every time someone gets sick... (Much as I would love to).
Please can someone help me with what to tell her and if this rash can actually clear up...
Thankyou VERY much

Grace in Canada

Hello Grace, I don't have an answer to your questions, but I wanted to direct you up to the resource stickie at the top of the forum. There are a couple links to some Lupus Resource sites. We have a couple ladies who have Lupus who may be able to better help you with your questions. You might find it helpful to look through some of the old posts for information also.

Let me know if you need anything!

Hi Grace
my name is Margaret. I can't really answer your question about the rash clearing up, but I can tell you that she definetly needs to see the specialists. I was diagnosed with SLE lupus in 1999 I was 19 years old. My daughter was about to turn 2 years old when I was diagnosed it is scary and you don't want to believe something like this is happening and why it's happening to you. I thought that if I ignored it, it would go away. I haven't had any flare ups in years, the worst one I had was when they diagnosed me and I had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks. I have the lupus that affects the organs, it is different than the one your sister has. I do have swelling and joint pain the joint pain can sometimes be unbearable. I had to see the doctors monthly now I am down to twice a year. I would strongly recommend that you insist on her making appointments to see the specialists, especially if she is having swelling and joint pain. I'm glad to hear that she has a very supportive family it helps knowing you have suport from people that care and love you.

HI, That is what she is doing right now. Ignoring it! I talked to my Mother on the phone last night and she said my sister hasn't made ANY appointments yet. She actually said she was burying her head in the sand.
Maybe she doesn't have lupus. But certainly there is something wrong! So get it checked. I know she is scared and I just wish I could be there for her right now but unfortunately I can't.... So I'll have to resort to nagging over the phone again!!!lol

Thanks to you ladies for your help. The rash on my sister face came back and she finally went to the Dr. She said she is going for a crazy amount of blood tests... For her allergies/ asthma. For lupus and get this... The rash on her face. Isn't a lupus rash. It is skin cancer!!! I am totally shocked. She is 26 years old and she has a skin cancer that covers so much of her face! But, The Dr still wants to test her for lupus because of all her other symptoms that are lupus symptoms....
Now I really wish I was there. She is really scared now. Poor little sister!
