Do you see a specialist for your Autoimmune Disorder? What kind of Dr. is it? Do they normally see a lot of people with your disease/disorder? How common is your disease/disorder?

I see the endocrinologist for my thyroid. Graves disease is pretty common, so in the grand scheme of things I'm not that exciting lol.

I see a rheumatologist and a renal specialist for the lupus. I haven't really asked or noticed to many people when I go to the doctor, but I know lupus is common. I've met alot of people with lupus or someone they now who has lupus.

I've always wondered what "catagory" of Dr. lupus fell under. I wonder that on a lot of diseases.

I see a rheumatologist also. I would estimate he probably only has a handful of AS patients, if that. It is more common than people think, but still is often misdiagnosed or left untreated.

I also see a Rheumatologist for my RA. He has a TON of patients, but I have no idea who is there for what. I am the youngest person tehre every time I go and the nurses are always excited to play with my kids. They always say how there are not many kids in the office, so mine are always a hit when I am there.
