Hi,
I am new to this board but been on JM for 6 years. I was diagnosed with Crohns disease in August of last year. It is causing me a lot of health problems and wondered if there were others on here to share experiences with and offer support.
My name is Sally and I have a daughter Alyssa aged 5.

Hi Sally, I'm another Sally with Crohn's!
I was diagnosed in 2001 after about 1.5 years of symptoms.

What medicine(s) are you on? I started with Asacol, mercaptopurine (6MP), prednisone, and remicade. The latter 2 were short-term to get it under control. I stayed on the other two for quite a while, staying mostly healthy, until my white blood cell count got too low to stay on 6MP. Almost 3 years ago I started on Humira, bi-weekly injections at home. Works like a charm!!! The only time I've had a problem was when I forgot a dose, so I went a whole month without one. So that makes me think I would be in trouble without it!

I was on Humira for one pregnancy and round of nursing, and now I am still on it in my 2nd pregnancy.

Different medicines work for different people, so be sure to talk to your doctor about them. Be your own advocate--do a lot of reading and make sure you talk about all the options. If what you're on isn't working, go back to the doctor to try something else.

I've never used diet or anything else to try to control it so the only advice I have to offer is about medicines.

I hope that you are able to find a way to keep healthy!
