I'm new to this board, but have been on JM for a few months as the DH and I are trying to conceive our first together. I didn't see this board until today, however.
Is anyone else on the type 1 diabetes road trip? I was diagnosed when I was 13 and I will be turning 39 this December. I never thought children were a possibility for me, but now that I'm settled and married, I decided to give it a go before that ship sails for good. I got the OK from my endocrinolgist prior to trying, so we'll see if anything happens. This is our 3rd cycle and all I've got to show for it is inconsistent ovulation days...
Anyway, I'm on an insulin pump and continual glucose monitor so things are finally looking up as far as my control goes. I wish I would have done the pump many years earlier, but I guess that's the nature of life, right?
Another things that drew me to this board was the discussion of RA. Up until a week or so ago, I was convinced that I had it. My left pointer finger and my right pinky finger have been sore/stiff for at least a couple of months now and no matter what I try, nothing seems to help make it go away. Although, it DOES have periods that I would classify as a "flare-up." I have been tested for RA and Lupus and the results were negative, saying that it is "nothing auto-immune related." I'm going to see an orthopedic hand surgeon as soon as a referral can be done. Anyone with pain like that? Sometimes it's so bad that I can't hold a hairspray bottle, or tear open bags/packets, etc.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and see if there are any other type 1s out there anywhere...
Hi, sorry I didn't see this post earlier.
I'm Rebecca and I've had type 1 diabetes for 34yrs. I was told no babies as a child and yet here I am I've had a pump for 22yrs and a sensor, off and on, for 4yrs. I also have a 12yr old dd with diabetes.
Good luck with the ttc. I hope you get your bfp really soon.
