I am 16 weeks pregnant and have never been diagnosed with arthritis but it runs in my family (as does Lupus and Celiac). Two weeks ago I started having intense pain that I thought was in my muscles. It felt like I had done 100 bicep curls. The pain started on a Friday and ended on Sunday. I got through the rest of the week fine until last Friday when I started having extreme pain in my right thigh and hip. The pain lasted through Monday morning then went away. I went to work and started having pain in my arms, wrists, and elbows around 9AM on Monday and the pain has not gone away. It is intense and debilitating. I can barely lift my pillow and it hurts to move. I feel pain in my muscles, but the most concentrated pain is in my joints. Right now I'm feeling it in my wrists, elbows, and knees. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took blood and will be testing for many things including arthritis. I won't have results until Monday. I am hoping to get in to my OB today to see what she thinks.
What do you all think?

It would be strange for RA to show up during pregnancy like that, and typically for me anyway, my RA flares are not bursts of pain like you are describing. I'm typically very stiff in the AM and loosen up throughout the day but most swollen at night. My flares last for about a week during which time my joints are on fire with no relief from anything. That being said what you're describing sounds similair to fibromyalgia, same auto immune family but slightly different. As far as your symptoms if it is RA there isn't much out there that is safe during pregnancy so you may want to bite the bullet and suffer through if you can. I stopped all my meds in august when I unexpectedly became pregnant and since have miscarried (which I attribute to methotrexate) but have stayed off the meds as we are TTC currently, Good Luck and keep me posted I'm curious to hear how things turn out for you.
