Hi im new to the board and desparate for help. In the last two years ive had 4 pregnancy losses...3 miscarriages and the loss of my son at 27 weeks last year. We have no living children. After losing my son, my blood work turned up nothing other than a positive ANA. After my last loss I developed a ton of symptoms (pericardititis, rash, joint pain etc.). I was finally diagnosed with Lupus, but my APS panel has been negative twice including an extended panel.
I met with my MFM since my diagnosis and he said my son fits the profile of an APS loss, but my miscarriages did not. Has anyone with Lupus had pregnancy losses and negative for APS? Has anyone with Lupus had early miscarriages (8 weeks with growth slowing or stopping at 6 weeks)? My MFM lead me to believe that the Lupus alone would not cause my miscarriages since my APS panel was negative and they didn't fit the APS profile anyway since they were early.
I'm currently on Plaquenil and 10mg of prednisone (likely to taper off prednisone before we try) and they plan to start me on heparin if we get pregnant and run my APS panel again. Anyone here on Plaquenil in pregnancy... I'm a little nervous about it? I guess I'm just worried that even with treatment that Lupus is not the cause of my losses and we will not be successful again and worse that the pregnancy will induce another bad flare and I lose the baby both... Ive been pretty healthy, but I've had minimal blood in my urine so I meet with a nephrologists so assuming I get the all clear from him trying to decide what to do. We also meet with an autoimmune/pregnancy specialist at Duke in a few weeks so would love to know any questions I should ask her. Thanks in advance for your help!!!
