I have heard before that auto immune diseases run in families. Do you have anyone in your family with an auto immune disease as well...or are you the only one?
My Grandma(mothers side) have a host of auto immune diseases. But she was the only one(that I am awre of). I wasnt dx with my first AI disease(Ulcerative Colitis) until four monthes after her passing...so I never had a chance to talk with her about all of this. But I feel her with me all the time,I have that sense that she is around...telling me it will be OK.

My mom is diabetic. My dad has a thyroid problem and has had his thyroid removed. My grandmother on my mom's side has parkinson disease. So did my great grandmother. My dad's mom has lupus, diabetes, and stomach problems. She also had a brother who died from stomach problems when he was five but they don't know what it really was. Just that he bleed to death from his intestines. I wonder if maybe he had crohns. My dad has IBS but not IBD. My aunt on my mom's side has heart problems.
I think I am a walking time bomb as far as the family goes.
