I have my neurologist appointment today. He was the Dr that referred me back to my family Dr for bloodwork. He suspected a thyroid problem because I get sooo over heated and sweat ALL the time. Of course, once I get this way I start going numb. So,my neuro wants to trouble shoot and see what is going on to cause me to get so hot. Who knows,he may just want blood work again....my appt is in an hour and a half. I will update in a bit...

ETA:I have had the blood work twice already and my family Dr says I am "borderline"...T4 was elevated, and family Dr said we will check again in 3 monthes

Lets just say,I'm feeling really down...my appointment sucked. I got like 12 seconds to talk with my Dr and then it was like 'see you in 6 monthes'. I had another MRI(awhile ago)and we talked about that for a second. Said I have "tons of lesions, but they all appear to be old lesions, nothing new". I asked about my face going numb and he STILL says that he believes that is Thyroid related. He got the report from my family Dr-my bloodwork. Neuro says to continue to follow thru with him. ***?!!!! This is just crazy. So basically, going to my appointment was a waste of time!

I hate it when the doctors are so rushed that they can't even talked to their patients. It is like they booked so many patients to see in a day and they can't even give them the time of day when they do see them. I am sorry that your appt. didn't go well.

I'm so sorry, Colee. I was really hoping you would get some answers at this appt. I want to come up there and kick someone's rear end for you.

Would you mind? LOL...these darn doctors are driving me insnae! I mean...is there any other way to find out levels for thyroid problems? I am just tired of my Dr saying I am "borderline" and then my neuro telling me that he doesnt even no if my facial numbness is ms related...he STILL is saying it's my thyroid...so it like, where do I turn?? Grrr

There is a guy at Joe's work, they work in the same dept(his name is Rick). Well,he was having symptoms of MS at the same time I was dx...last summer. He STILL hasnt been dx with anything. They keep telling him "see you in 3 monthes"...he is on no therpy,etc...just having all these stupid symptoms. I told Joe I cant imagine how HE feels, not even having a dx yet! Here I sit complaining and this poor guy doesnt even have a word for what is going on with him!

It's just messed up

My rheumy was the one that discovered my thyroid was out of whack. My heart rate was really fast, I was burning hot all the time, and I was losing a lot of weight, so she rand a thyropid uptake blood test and found the T3 was high. Then I had nodules on my thyroid also, so she sent me to an endocrinologist.

Does your insurance require you to have a referral? If not, I would almost see if there is an endocrinologist that would see you, and then get a copy of your blood work from the doctor that did it. It wouldn't hurt. They specialize in those type of things, and maybe they would at least sit down with you and tell you what's going on. And don't let them rush through the appt. Make a list of questions to ask before you go in, and don't let them leave before your questions are answered. Take Joe or your mom with you if you have to.
