My cognitive memory is slowly getting worse. Before being dx I remember telling my dh that I thought I was "going dumb"...he,of course would say "thats not possible". Well, maybe not...but I certianly felt that way. I was mis-using my words, forgetting simple words or the spellings. That things got worse and I started to forget to turn off the stove or turn off running water. My driving slowed waaaaaay down as well because I would actually get into the car and forget where I was going....well,I knew WHERE I was going...but I couldnt remember how to get there,or how to get home.
Anyhow...I was looking up info on MS and I came across statistics on how many are affetced with cognitive memory problems. HALF of the people dx with MS have cognitive memory dysfunction. Cognitive memory problems arise when lesions take place in the area of the brain where thinking occurs.
Symptoms of mild cognitive dysfunction:
Impaired reasoning—difficulty in analyzing situations
Impaired concentration—difficulty in sorting through multiple stimuli or focusing on a task
Impaired memory—recent memories are difficult to recall
Slower fluency—have difficulty finding words when speaking
Just thought I would share. This is something that I go through everyday...
