Hi!

I am new to JM. My husband and I are about to start TTC our first baby. I have lupus, but right now it is almost completely in remission. My Rheumatologist said that this would be a great time to be pregnant because I have very few symptoms right now.

The one thing I am worried about is my anti-cardiolipin. The last 2 times I have had it checked, it was negative. But it changes all of the time. I worry that if it is positive I will miscarry. But I guess it's all about taking it one day at a time. I can't worry too much about it until it happens.

Does anyone else here have lupus? How about positive anti-cardiolipin?

Welcome to the AI Board!!! I'm Melissa. I was dx with MS this past August. I know there are a few girls in here with lupus that would better be able to answer your questions. Again, welcome to the board!!!

Don't forget to sign the roll call!

I also have an auto-immune disorder which is being called SLE at this time. From what I've read about the anti-cardiolipin is that there are medications which can be given during pregnancy to suppress the antibody. I'm seeing my OB on the 28th so if it comes up I will let you know what she says. I'm really worried about my off the charts CRP level too. I wish there was a good resource about this that wasn't totally alarmist, but still let you know what you could do to have your healthiest pregnancy possible.
Good Luck!

This study was referred to me when I first mentioned getting pregnant but it may be of interest to you. I don't know what the travel requirements would be or if they could have results sent to them from your area. It might be a good way to meet a team of experts at this time. Have a look and see what you think. Let me know if this link doesn't work for you.

hi I was diagnosed with lupus in '99 i'm also new here. i'm alittle late on this topic but here is my experience with pregnancies and lupus. My 1st pregnancy was in '96 I had a late misscariage at 20 weeks. I got pregnant 2 months later, she was born at 25 weeks due to pre eclampsia she was in the NICU for quite a few months she is now a healthy 10 year young lady. I had an unexpected pregnancy '99 and it was another late miscarriage @21 weeks. With both miscarriages my water bag would rupture and I would go into labor, I came to find out that the anti cardiolipin was the cause for the ruptures. I decided to try to get pregnant again in '01, I was put on prednisone and aspirin though my whole pregnancy and was monitored closely by my OB and my rheumatologist. I had a healthy baby boy at 32 weeks he weighed 5lbs. He is now 6 years old. I developed pre eclampsia with him and doctor decided to go ahead and deliver. I have started charting cuz we are ttc #3. I am worried because of all we have been through but we so wnt another child. I am currently on cellcept, prednisone, plaquenil and asprin right now. The doctors say that they will keep a close eye on me when we actively start trying. Sorry for the long story. I'm sorry if I put TMI.

I'm a little late, but I just wanted to say hi and welcome!

My name is Erica, I'm 23. I'm married and have a nearly 3 year old daughter, Brinlee, and our second on the way. I was diagnosed with RA last summer, and am also going down the fibromyalgia path.

I hope you stick around, and good luck TTC

I guess I overlooked this before I posted my introduction! Yes, I have SLE and the positive anticardiolipin. I wish you all the best in trying to conceive!!

Thank you for everyone's replies! I'm sorry I haven't made it back over here for so long.

We're still TTC, and now it's the end of April. I did have an appointment with a perinatologist who I will continue to see full time once I get my BFP. She seemed great and to really know her stuff. We started out by having me do a 24 hour urine collection to have a baseline of my kidneys and getting some bloodwork done. A lot depends on whether or not the clotting factors come back positive once I'm pg. So for now, it's just a waiting game.

Thank you again for all of your kind words. Hopefully we'll get pg and have a healthy pg soon!
