If you had a 13 year old, would you let her babysit your 2 to 3 month old for 2 hours?

When my maternity leave is over, I am thinking about letting Kori "babysit" in the afternoons until I get home. My Mom will come over here and stay with the baby while I work. So when Kori gets home from school, Mom can leave and Kori can watch her for 2 hours.

She is very responsible and very mature for her age. And ofcourse there are neighbors who she could call if she needed to and I am only 15 minutes away from home.

My ds is almost 13 and no way on earth I'd let him babysit that long. He is very immature and ADHD though. I know myself I started babysitting at like 11. It really depends on the kid. To be honest though, I don't think 13 is old enough to babysit an infant for that long. I remember babysitters I had watching me when I was a kid that were teens. I think that is why I am hesitant to say that it's a good idea. I guess my answer is I don't know. I would think long and hard on that one.

We'll when I have the baby, Kori will be out of school for the summer. So I'm going to see how she is with her. Maybe let her watch the baby while I take a nap or do some work around the yard. That way I'll still be there if she should need anything, but I won't be looking over her shoulder.

I might wait until the baby is 5 or 6 months old. I just know that come Mid November my Mom can't keep the baby after 3:00 due to prior comitments. And I really don't want to put her in day care that young.

Thanks for your reply. And believe me, if I didn't think she was capable of taking good care of my baby I wouldn't have even considered it. But I still have some time to think it all over.
