car she was in skid cause the road was wet (I think it was wet), broke a barrier and plunged into a little river ... she said she was sort of asleep and woke up upon impact so therefore she didnt brace herself and got the worst injuries

She is back home now ... they discharged her

Fractured pelvis, cant walk or move at all, she has to lay completely flat on her back ... getting her to and from the bathroom was a trip so now she has a bedpan

I have to get a second opinion cause she has headaches despite the painkiller injection they gave her

I just reached home ... made sure she fell asleep

Oh wow. Poor thing. Hope she recovers quickly.

Mothers worst fears once they start to drive isn't it.

she's not doing too good ... taking her to yet another doctor today (it's a risk moving her but we have to do it)

I crashed moodwise yesterday cause I think it has only now really hit me she was in an accident so I have no idea how I'm going to cope today

Lisa, I hope Sabrina gets better quickly!! and her uncle as well. Accidents are horrible. I have been in 1 only thankfully and it wasn't as bad as what you are describing. I really hope they recover quickly. Keep your head up and don't let it freak you out and get you down. You have to be strong for Sabrina.

UPDATE

Took her to Westshore Medical Centre yesterday to do over her pelvic xrays (as the hospital the ambulance took her to didn't want to give me the xrays they took Friday night) and also to do a CT scan cause the numbness on the left side of the head is gone but replaced by a lot of pain now

Well ... the CT scan has turned up good in that nothing is wrong with her head and neck so therefore the pain is probably due to trauma from the accident

The pelvic xrays however showed the two fractures the hospital had said she had ... HOWEVER ....................... the 2nd fracture is not a small fracture as they said it was ... the 2nd fracture is actually a clean fracture in that the bones are lining up HOWEVER any slight movement can result in the BREAKING of the pelvis because it is all the way from one end to the next side

HOW on earth the hospital didn't pick up that fracture was so big is unbelievable

so right now Head of Orthopedics (spl???) has gone back to Westshore Medical to look over the xrays that were done yesterday and he will pass home after lunch to let us know what he thinks.

Now that I work in the medical system I have only one bit of advice to offer. They make plenty of mistakes. Don't get sick

haha I figured that out about the public health system ... that's why I went private

the good part is that I have pretty good insurance for me and the kids so YAY that!!!

Sabrina's not using the bedpan anymore, she's actually in the diapers so there's a lot less movement unless we have to change her

okay well good news

I have managed to reorganize stuff and I am returning to work this week ... her boyfriend's mother is staying with her while I am at work and when Adam reaches home from school he will kick in and help out BIGtime until I reach home from work so at least I know she will have someone with her RIGHT THROUGH so YAY!

Sorry to hear that your daughter was hurt, and it's fantastic that there are people who care about her kicking in to help out, I'm sure that's a relief for you both.

I have nothing nice to say about some hospitals out my way either. When I fractured my arm back in 2005 the first hospital I visited on the Friday night said that they weren't sure, but they would send the x-rays to my doctor and I was to call him on Monday, then sent me home with a very small amount of pain meds that I had to pay for right there and put my arm in a flimsy sling.
On Monday my doc sent me to a different hospital and called in a favour from a friend of his who is an orthopaedic surgeon who not only said it WAS fractured, but it was fractured in TWO places, the radial head and the humerus (both sides of the elbow).

I have figured out that taxpayers money is wasted practically on our local healthcare system amongst other things
