The other day, I was playing whiffle ball in the backyard with my son and two daughters. He is 14, they are 16 and 18. We didn't actually have a whiffle ball, so we were using a tennis ball, which is obviously a lot heavier. Anyway, my son pitched it to me, and I hit a line drive straight into his nuts! He fell down holding himself, and I was so surprised, I just burst out laughing, as did the girls. My son was kind of laughing too, but his face was bright red, and he was definitely in pain. He had been talking a lot of trash about how men are better at sports, telling his sister she throws like a girl, etc. so I guess I thought he was kind of getting his comeuppance. Later I thought maybe I should have tried not to laugh, since I know guys can be sensitive about that kind of stuff. Am I a bad mom for laughing?

Whilst it would have been funny to see and I would have probably laughed too, that sort of thing can cause some serious damage.

I probably would have asked him if he was okay, but not before laughing. I guess having a sense of humor about this kind of stuff takes the pain away at times.
