Hi, just found this board and thought I’d ask a question that I’ve been wondering about for a while now.

Does anyone else out there with teens have hygiene issues with their teen? My DS almost never remembers to brush his teeth!! I have to remind him every morning and night, and then half the time he still doesn’t brush them. I have no idea what is wrong with him, we’ve always brushed his teeth and stressed the need to keep them brushed when he was young. He’s got the most beautiful teeth (thanks to brace) now I’m afraid they are going to rot out his mouth!

So anyway, just wondering if this or other hygiene issues is/are common, and some ideas on how to correct them. Thanks

Hey there my name is Audrey. I've think I've seen you around on JM before. I just popped in to see what was going on over here b/c I have an 11 yr old on his way to 12.

My son is the WORST about brushing his teeth. When he does do it after having to be reminded it still seems like he does a crummy job of it. He was born with a nice set of teeth so it is really sad to watch him not take care of them.

I was thinking about threatening to take away anything sweet and make him live on broccoli.

I like the broccoli idea. This seems to be a common problem with boys. I remember my brother being the same way. I have all girls and so far haven't had this issue so I don't have much advice. Sorry.

Just wanted to say welcome to both of you. I hope you'll stick around. This board is pretty slow most of the time and I'd like to see that change.

Hi Audrey, I’ve seen you on the TTC board, hope we both move to a DDC club soon!!! And hi Anna, I agree, it would be nice to get this board moving, I’m the only one of my friends that has a teenager so it’s hard to talk with them about some of the issues…both good and bad…that goes with being a parent of a teenager!!

Funny about the broccoli ….although my son loves broccoli…..well actually he drowns it in cheese so it’s probably the cheese he likes…
