Do you give your preteen/teen an allowance for helping out around the house?

I guess I'm mean I don't do allowance. I feel as though its her responsibility to help out around the house just as much as any of us. However, we are always doing activities on the weekend or if she wants something and I have the money and she has been helping out I will buy it for her. It evens out I think.

I have always had the view that everyone in the household contributes to the household so we never really had set chores or anything like that and no allowance. At the beginning of this school year I decided to implement what I call chores on demand meaning whatever I ask them to do they do it and we give them allowance every two weeks when we get paid. I decided to do this because my son was spending way to much money on extras at lunch like ice cream etc and it was costing us a small fortune so I had the school put a block on his account so he can only deduct one lunch a day and any ice creams or specialty drinks need to be paid for with cash

We don't do a school lunch account. We could I guess but the girls usually prefer to bring lunch from home. On the rare occasion that they want what the school is serving that day then I'll give them the cash for it.

Allowance.... we don't do that either. They have to earn their money.
They have set chores that they do just because everyone has to contribute in order for the family to function.
If they do something beyond that, something we could pay someone else to do, (like heavy yard work, painting the garage, filling in for me with a music lesson, etc) then we pay them for that.
Meagan's looking for a summer job to get some extra spending money.

No allowance either. Once in a while she'll work for something she'd like..such as doing extra chores for new shoes or something she wants.

Younger two have no allowance, but they do get treats throughout the month and Lucas gets one cinema trip with friends a month.
Rheiya gets 20 (around $30) a month, out of that she has to pay for her phone and buy her own treats!
Elijah gets 30 (around $47) a week from the Government for staying on at school (she could have left in December last year if she wanted to). She has to abide by the school rules, make sure homework is up to date, be in school every day, unless ill, to get the money. With that she has to save some, buy her own clothes (other than school uniform), pay her own phone etc.
