At what age can your teen get a job in the state you live in? At what age would you let them get a job? What type of job would you be willing to let them do?

16, I don't think it's changed. Probably her senior year of HS. Whatever she wanted within a reasonable range.

I'm not sure what the minimum age is here. I think it depends on the job but it must be at least 15 because most of Meg's friends are working already or are looking for summer jobs.
Meg's looking for one herself. I think she's hoping to get a lifeguard gig since she got certified last summer. But she's been looking into lots of different things. Who knows what she'll end up with.

would you believe the minimum age here is 14. that's what they are telling the kids in school. I was kind of shocked. We have asked around just out of curiosity and most places are telling us 15 and 16. I think 15 would be a good age and something like the local ice cream stand, the grocery store or the movie store sounds appropriate

14 and 9 months in Australia. Which is an odd age, but nevermind.

17yr old and 15yr old have jobs. Dita is a cleaner/carer at a veterinary practice. She cleans up the animals, feeds them, walks the ones that can/need to be walked, grooms them. Azriel works at a music store, selling instruments, sheet music and other musical things that im not overly familiar with, haha, he dosent get his love of music from me.

Minimum age here is 13 (unless it's TV, modelling etc), but there are a whole load of laws as to when and how long they can work for.
I'd be willing to let them do any job suitable for their age.

14....she is 15 now and is looking for a job unfortunatley every place she can work at her age is not within walking distance. There is only one place within walking distance, we have a petting zoo and a little country store in our neighborhood. She has to be 16 to work there so I'm sure in December she will be applying.

Cybele, send Azriel over here. He'd fit right in! I think Meg would love to get a job in a music store. I'd love it too if I could take advantage of her employee discount.

Our law states that you can get at job at 12 if you have written parental/guardian consent & must be under round the clock supervision by someone 19yrs or older. 15yrs is the norm tho.

I think I'd have a hard time letting my 12yr old go get a job at that age. It's kind of scary.

As for the kind of job, it doesn't matter to me as long as it's age appropriate & they can get to & from it without too much hassle.

Kristi is working at a hotel in the housekeeping department.
