I usually stay home with them. But I work very part time anyway so it's not like I'm missing anything. I do sometimes have to leave them for a couple hours at a time but I try not to if I can avoid it.
I'm maybe a little more lenient than most about staying home. If they're really not feeling well, even if its just a bad cold or headache then I let them stay home. They don't need to be throwing up or have a fever. (of course if they did they'd definitely be home)
But my girls actually love school and they know how hard it is to come back and get caught up after an absence so I know they won't take advantage of it. If they're feelling bad enough that they want to stay home then they must be really miserable.
If they ever did start taking advantage of it then I'd probably change my tune pretty quick.
I kept my little one home today because she didn't sleep AT ALL last night. She's not sick but I knew she wouldn't function well today being so tired so she was better off at home.
