If your preteen/teen is home sick from school, who takes care of them? Do you stay home with them, let them stay home alone or does someone else stay with them?

What warrants them being sick enough to miss school?

The older ones can stay alone, unless, of course they are very very sick. If im working, than my mother in law comes over for the younger ones.

my kids will stay next door at my n laws if they are not too bad. If they are real bad then i will take off and stay home with them.

A fever or throwing up definitely warrants them staying out of school.

I usually stay home with them. But I work very part time anyway so it's not like I'm missing anything. I do sometimes have to leave them for a couple hours at a time but I try not to if I can avoid it.

I'm maybe a little more lenient than most about staying home. If they're really not feeling well, even if its just a bad cold or headache then I let them stay home. They don't need to be throwing up or have a fever. (of course if they did they'd definitely be home)
But my girls actually love school and they know how hard it is to come back and get caught up after an absence so I know they won't take advantage of it. If they're feelling bad enough that they want to stay home then they must be really miserable.
If they ever did start taking advantage of it then I'd probably change my tune pretty quick.

I kept my little one home today because she didn't sleep AT ALL last night. She's not sick but I knew she wouldn't function well today being so tired so she was better off at home.
