i have medicaid now, and figured that at 25 weeks, i should maybe get into the dr. esp. because they were not happy in the ER about me not having a dr., and almost insisted i call their clinic to schedule an appt. i did that this afternoon, finally. , am on baby #3, and i know my body-- i've never seen an ob before 20 weeks, and i have always been fine.
so, i can't get an appt. for sure, with the woman i want, because there are 9 **** docs that rotate. ugh. anyhow, i spoke with my medicaid lady and told her that i have no desire to see an ob, period, and asked if it would be possible to switch to t amidwife, if i could find one.
she told me that was fine, and that i was welcome to call her back after my monday appt., and she would find me a midwife who works with a doctor (the only way they cover it), who takes my insurance. yahoo! i'm like, jumping for joy. i've wanted a midwife every time, but never could find one closeby. so i am super-excited, and feel that i might actually have a chance at a birth that suits my wishes, this time. in the tub, walking around, not strapped to ****** moniters in a bed. sorry to be such a whiner, but i hate hate hate the hospital routine, and the way OBs and their nurses treat you, with their hospital policies about not eating, and insisting you stay in their care for X amount of time.
gosh, i pray i don't have GB strep this time... they didn't give me enough antibiotics before delivery, even though i told them to expect a super-fast labour. guess nobody believes a mother, who has no medical degree. i am still steamed at being told not to check my own cervix-- hey, it led me into the hospital to make sure we were okay, so there was nothing wrong with it, and i will do it again if necessary.
again, sorry to complain so, i just get rather passionate about birth staying natural, and in my control, so long as no emergencies arise. i can't stand the idea of going in and getting rules thrown at me that make me real sense.
but, i am pleased, that i will get to have another u/s soon... but hating the thought of having to put up with regular appts. now. i don't thi nk they are necessary, and i hate that dr.s get a ton of money for making you go in, only to tell you that you are fine. grrrr....

No one knows your body better than you do. Hope you get the birth you want and that duckie stays put for a few more months.

yay let us know what they say. Whether you know your body or not, those visits are also for the baby... to make sure you're measuring alright and the heartbeat sounds good, etc etc. Ugh, I had that GB strep, too. And I asked if it was common to have it all the time, and he said "Not necessarily, you can have it once and not have it again"... yada yada yada. I had it the 2nd time around.. just like I knew I would. Ah, but I liked my nurses and all... especially the 2nd time around. I definitely liked the guy that did my spinal... he was a LOT more comforting than the woman who did it with Ty and he sat there and talked to me the whole time during the csection and listened when I told him I felt sick and all,
Anywho, I hope you get to have a midwife and that you like her!

of course, i have no problem with making sure the baby is eveloping normally-- i just think there are too many of them in the beginning.
i'm afraid i'll have the gb strep again too... but, whatever. my doctor said that even if i get the antibiotics, they may make me stay 48 hours anyhow. i am NOT hearing that. going to see if i will be covered if i leave early, ama... i just want it all to be at home, but besides mike's fight for the hospital, i don't have the best feeling about a home birth for this child. rather be around safety equipment.
