Travis had a bilateral inguinal hernia repair in April of this year. His hernias were HUGE. I mean, HUGE. You could not even see his little peepee cuz it was so enormous. He was 9 months old (5mos corrected) when he had the surgery. He has two tiny scars where the incisions were. He stayed overnight but only for precautionary measures. He did great and has not had any problems since. I hope that if Jax needs it, it goes just as smoothly. Good luck and keep us posted!
Gabriel also had bilateral inguinal hernias. He had surgery for them when he was 5 months. It was just a day surgery. We were in and out really fast, 4-5 hours from when we first arrived. They healed very well, just two little scars that I am sure you won't even be able to see when he is an adult.
Everything went very smooth thank goodness. He was a bit crazy after waking up from the surgery but the nurses said the meds they use do that to everyone.
Aidan got his repaired when he was about 8mths old. He had a left inguinal hernia. It would bulge out everytime he strained. It was a day-sugery, but he had to be put to sleep for the procedure. The scar is very minor, and he's 18mths now and i can't even tell it's there. He didn't seem to feel any pain or discomfort after the surgery.
The only thing....it is HARD to hand him over to the doctor when the doc is ready to take him for surgery. I am glad he got it done when he wasn't in the crying for mama stage, cuz that would've made it harder. Then they called me back in when he woke from the surgery, and he was quite cranky and groggy from the anesthea. So you'll need to cuddle him, give him milk and sooth him. I was told by the nurse to cuddle him and talk to him so that he knew I was holding him and would calm down.

Luke had bilateral done while still in NICU before we came home. His looked like a naval orange! Doc said they were angry! LOL Pretty much is was in and out, told me although that since his were so large there is a chance of his coming back. But nothing yet. 2 tiny scrs. Came of O2 just fine. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh yea, didn't circ though, wouldn't heal right the doc said so did that later. Since the skin from abdomen was down there....
A Huge Shout Out to Naz1996 for my awesome siggie!
