So I'm not sure if I have mentioned it before, but I have been fighting to get the 4 weeks Bryson was in the NICU extended on my mat leave... so basically have my year start from discharge day not his birthday. Well I found out today after months of arguing with the stupid government that I WON!!!!! SOOOO excited! So now I'm back to work June 20 instead of May 21st!
Sorry... thought I would share as I'm just so excited and thought you all would understand lol!
I don't think it was the caregiver thing?? I was off on sick leave while I was in the hospital before I had him so they extended my sick leave while for the 4 weeks while he was in the hospital and started my mat leave on discharge day... I had to get a doctors note stating that I couldn't work during those 4 weeks (as I had a c-section) and give proof that he was in the NICU so I'm not sure if they are classifying it as family sick leave or just sick leave... one or the other! It was a long fight but I guess perseverance pays off sometimes lol! So I guess for future reference if there are any Canadian NICU mommies here, make sure you fight for it and if you need help, let me know!!!
