It's a girl! Her name is Ava Belle, and she was 2 lbs. 6 oz. Her apgar scores were 9 and 9, and she came out screaming and beautiful. She's only 26 weeks, so she has a long road ahead of her, but at least she's off to a good start! Will update with more details when I can!
Update: someone posted on our DDC that Ava didn't even have to be intubated! I am totally floored at how well she's doing so far!!! Chelsea is doing well too--it ended up being a c-sec because the baby was breech. She is just waiting to recover enough right now to be able to go up to the NICU to see Ava.
Beth, get this: she didn't even need to be intubated--they did intubate long enough to give her surfactant, then took the tube right back out and put her on CPAP! Can you believe it?!?! If she had to come this early (and boy, do we wish she didn't...), I'm just so grateful she's doing so well!
