I went back to work. I couldn't just sit next to his isolette all day, or I would have gone insane because there was so little I could do for him at first. So, I went back to work full time. I'd go see him before work, at lunchtime (I work all of 8 blocks from the hospital he was at), and after work. It gave me something else to focus on besides him being in the NICU.
I also talked to other NICU parents. It helped a lot to realize I wasn't crazy for feeling as awful as I was.
