What does everyone use to make your layouts? Right now, I am using gimp. It's free and free is good. However, my new lap top is coming today or tomorrow. I was thinking about getting photoshop or whatever the other one is. Are there pros and cons of each?

I use Photoshop Elements 6.0 and its great. It's able to do almost everything CS can do, but without the huge price tag. It works in layers, which is a big pro over Paint shop pro. It was totally worth it to me to upgrade last christmas and will last me at least another year before I upgrade to CS.

I just looked at the photoshop elements 7.0. The price isn't bad at all and I like the working in layers part. That's how gimp is.

I use photoshop CS2 but it comes with a hefty price tag. CS three is close to 600$. They work great but take time to learn. A good first step from what I hear is photoshop elements.

PSP does have layers, but not in the same format PSE and PS CS do.

I usually use PS CS2. In the olden days I was a PSP user (versions 11 and 12) but I prefer CS2 now.

I use Ulead PhotoImpact. It's the photo editing program DH likes. I would really love PSE but now I'm worried learning a new program would be a pain.
