I agree with MommaTrish. And then, really, all I did was start playing around with it. I did some online research, but the best thing for me was to just fiddle around and figure it out on my own. Good luck!
Okay....honestly, that doesn't help...sorry! I guess I am stupid, but I want to make my own kits from scratch...I don't have money to purchase things, so is that possible? That is the help I need, I guess. HOW do you make a kit from scratch? Do I need a better program? Thanks, ladies...I appreciate your suggestions.
Oh, I wish I could help more but I actually have an older version of PSE 2.0 than anyone else here I think ... and I've never created more than a couple papers.
I'm not much help but maybe some of the other ladies that have created can help a little more. Good luck!

the only cu thing I purchase sometimes is overlays.. and when I do buy them I get them super cheap like $1 a pk. Be sure to check out sales If you have not been there already check out DST There is always a good sale on Also sign up to shops you like newsletters.. Some shops like ScrapArtist have a weekly ad for $1 sales and you can find cu overlays there.
Not sure if this will help but it you have things around the house(ribbon, buttons, etc) you can take pictures or scan them in to the computer and extract them yourself to use for elements. I see lot of different things for elements now day too.. not really my style.. but it might be yours &/or other peoples, so get creative! (just make sure your pic/scan is good quality!!)
Again look for tutorials, You can find lots of FREE ones on the net.. you just have to search.
Good luck again!!
