Do you get tomorrow off (or your hubby, for those who don't work) for Veteran's Day? Are you planning to do anything special?

It's just called Remembrance Day here, and it isn't a national holiday either.

I get Veteran's Day AND Friday off! Wahoo! I need it after 2 weeks of parent conferences and kids that have been acting out of control! Then it is one week and then another week off! I love November!

There is a kiddie band doing a concert in the park nearby so Mckenzie and I will be heading there as long as it doesn't rain. It is walking distance to hubby's work, so we will probably stop there for a visit too. Nothing else planned, other than scrapping!

Nope. John had work and the boys had school. I tried to tell Belly it was a national holiday and I should get the day off from her, but I don't think she agrees with me.

Remembrance Day here and it's not a paid holiday off. However businesses have the right to give their staff the day off. I have worked at 2 places that gave us the day off paid for Remembrance Day. Stu has to work though.

Trish, what state do you live in that has school? I thought all schools were required to be off today!

I just looked it up Trish.....though it is a Federal Holiday, schools have the option to stay open. Very interesting!

Schools are open in NJ- we get off the first Thurs/Fri of November for Teachers Convention, then we have early dismissals for Conferences the week of T-Day, then the two days off for that. Makes November a bit crazy!

I wish that they made more of a big deal of Vet's Day..... although it seems like most holidays are losing there meaning, everything from memorial Day to Labor day to Christmas.
