So, here's the thing, I don't want to move far away from Memphis, but John is dead set on doing just that sometime in the next 5 years. He refuses to move any further south than we already are, I refuse to move to Boston. (The only place he's set on. Cost of living is way to high)
What I want you to do is sell me on where YOU live, since like I said we aren't too sure yet where we want to move to. Plus, it'd have to be somewhere we could afford a nice 4 bedroom house for around $165,000. What makes where you live great? ((And don't use good drivers as an argument. John's an auto-body technician - we love bad drivers lol))

We don't count because we're further South than you, even though we have the cost of living/housing totally down. Terrible drivers too.

Ok, I love where I live for these reasons: My family is all here (both sides for us) and for the most part we get along LOL, I am minutes from the beach and the air always smells like salt, the weather is pretty moderate - it gets pretty cold, but snow is kind of a rarity (although we've seen a lot the past two years), we have a small town feel and the area is pretty safe, in the summer there is LOTS to do around here (boardwalk, festivals, etc...), we are just a couple of hours from three major cities (Philadelphia, New York, and Washington DC), Atlantic City is in our "backyard", and our state doesn't have crazy requirements for homeschooling (and since that is what I want to do I consider it a plus).

I don't like where I live for these reasons: the cost of living is higher and often the jobs don't pay out the difference, in the winter there isn't much to do (tourist areas are tough to live in for this reason), the traffic in the summer is horrendous (but your husband would like that LOL), our governor is s*** and is trying to ruin the state (but he can be replaced in a couple of years), and good jobs are harder to find and may require a commute.

That pretty much sums it up, good and bad. Plus if you moved here we could scrap together

oh and our public schools ranked number 4 in the nation (until the governor was elected anyway, but again he can be replaced)

Well...I'm not too sure you want to move THIS far North! You wouldn't be able to find a 4 bedroom for that price either We paid $275,000 for our 5 bedroom that we built almost 3 years ago.

You won't find a 4 bedroom that low near us, you'd have to move to a more rural area of MN or into Wisconsin but I really love our area. The Twin Cities consistently rank well on any random chart or survey or research that comes out. We have very good quality of life here.

Hey! Boston is not a bad place to live!!!! It is expensive, but the salaries here are higher than most other places, so I do think it averages out. Plus, the drivers are TERRIBLE!!!! lol

I LOVE the summer nights here, it's nice to be able to sit ourside at 8 at night and enjoy the clear sky, the stars are amazing. We have wild varieties in weather, never too much snow, or lots of rain. House are still reasonably priced here, my dream house last year was under contract for 132,000 & it was a 4 bedroom with a bonus room. There are some amazingly beautiful houses here for under $200,000. I've lived here 11 years and although the wind makes me crazy I wouldn't move because of it.

We go to Jill's area for a vacation often! We love it there and my IL's are thinking about someday moving out there.

We live in Orange County, CA and it is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for everyone. BUT, there are tons of terrible drivers so your hubby would have a constant flow of business! Also, the weather is WONDERFUL. You can drive to the beach and the mountains within a couple of hours. Out by where April lives is much more affordable and you still have the proximity to the beach and mountains and the area is still nice. Although our state is really going to **** and we have thought about moving out of the state.

Well, we found our 5 bedroom, 2.5 bath, for $94,400. It's downtown, too, so it's within walking distance of some fabulous parks, as well as cafes,

Our cost of living is pretty low, compared to a lot of places.

I love where I live as well, but I doubt you'd want to come all the way over here to Norway. And there's no way to find a house that cheap, we bought our 3 bdr house for $542,200.

We do rank really high on the UN's list of best countries to live in We used to be #1, but the last few years we've been somewhere in the top 5.
