How do you work with layers. Do you make one then Ctrl G and make another then Ctrl G.? For example do you open your background, Ctrl G , import your picture, Ctrl G, add an embellishment Ctrl G. How do i do this?
The only time you'd need to use Ctrl+G (Grouping) is if you want to replace or fill in a layer. For instance, if you use one of the premade templates, you would open the template, paste the paper you want to use for the background or one of the patterns, make sure the paper layer is above the layer you want it to replace then use Ctrl+G to group the two layers together. Then use Ctrl+E (Merge).
Another time you could use this is if lets say you have an entire page already done and decide that you want to change one of the papers. Maybe it's a photomat...if you don't want to delete the photomat and draw it in again, you can open the new paper you want to use for it...move it right above the photomat layer then use Ctrl+G and Ctrl+E. This will replace whatever paper is already there with the new one.
I hope that helps...You don't have to use it at all...it's just a little shortcut.
