I posted in just the regular PCOS message boards but thought i would post here too..

I started Metformin April 16 and started with 1000/mg a day and May 1 I started 2000/mg a day extended release.

My questions are...

1. How long did it take for you to get a period after started Met/how many mg were u on.

2. How long did it take you to get preg if you just took Metformin(not chlomid)/how many mg were you on.

I think that's all...

I've had PCOS for years and was put on the BCP to regulate the periods along with Metformin 500mg twice a day for insulin resistance. When I got married in Sept 08, I stopped taking the BCP in OCT. I still got my periods normally as I would, and I was only on the Metformin (same dose) when I got pregnant mid NOV.

1. How long did it take for you to get a period after started Met/how many mg were u on? I was completely regulated taking 2000 mg. of Metformin within 4-5 weeks of taking it.

2. How long did it take you to get preg if you just took Metformin(not chlomid)/how many mg were you on?. I was on 2000 mg. of Metformin and got pg. within 3 months of taking Metformin (and that is a miracle considering I was infertile for the first 13 years of our marriage!!). With my dd, the doctor put me on Clomid to help things along quickly as I had a m/c 2 months prior...so I was still on the 2000 mg. of Metformin and continued that throughout pg. and took 50 mg. of Clomid on cycle days 3-7. With ds, I took 50 mg. clomid cd 3-7 to help make a better egg quality as I'm considered Advanced Maternal Age. With this little one I now carry, just the Metformin (no clomid) and we were actually not trying....wild considering that we will be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary about a month and a half after Caitie is born. lol
