Hi Ladies,
I hope you don't mind me posting this question. I was briefly on this board awhile back when I was diagnosed with PCOS, but then decided to NTNP when my doc gave us the news (based on DH's SA results) that we were "unlikely to naturally conceive". Miraculously, we have been blessed in getting pregnant with just Met alone.
Anyways, I still lurk here occasionally and wanted to know any experiences from BTDT moms regarding PCOS and breastfeeding.
I really want to be able to BF, but I have a few friends IRL who have PCOS who said their milk never came in.
Did that happen to any of you? Where you on medication to help your milk production?
I stopped taking Metformin when I was 15 weeks pregnant. I've heard that Met can sometimes help to stimulate milk production in women with PCOS.
I had no trouble with milk coming in with my first two. My PCOS wasn't a fertility issue back then, so I'm not sure if I'll have trouble this time. I think it's a question of whether or not it affects your prolactin levels. It'd be something to discuss with your doctor. If you remind me after this little lady arrives I can update you since I plan to BF with her.
I also had no issues with my milk coming in with DS, though I also didn't have issues (that were known) with PCOS in my first pregnancy. I'm really hoping I don't have any issues breastfeeding as it is important to me. This is something I'm going to have to look into more!
There is also this thread - sees some PCOS mommas had issues with supply and others didn't.

I took Metformin throughout my entire pregnancy and afterwards and I haven't had any problems with milk supply. I, too, was told that it helped with milk production.

I had very difficult time getting pregnant...PCOS with me has been very active since I was 14
But I breastfeed with no problems, I always had extra to pump and store... each one nursed for 18 months....
I hope to do the same with the twins...
