what you will do for b/c after you are done having kids or between kids???

I don't need it to prevent pg, but I've learned that women with PCOS have a higher rate of ovarian cancer (my mom died of it at 57, she had uncontrolled PCOS, never took meds for it) , so I want something to prevent my ovaries from going nuts...
I won't do anything permanent, but I will be the 1st to sign up for a surgery at the 1st sign of abnormal growths etc. I have kids to raise...not taking any chances, kwim?
I'm pretty sure 4 is good, I wanted 5-6, but DH is older (he'll be 44 when the twins arrive) and would like to retire at 55... so financially more would stretch it.
And since I homeschool and the like... I think this gap is manageable for me....
so any ideas???..... thinking the pill, but I gain weight and break out. , not a fan of IUDs,

I will BF exclusively for 1 yr, so AF doesn't come back usually till 1 yr+, any other options to supress our ovaries????
Depo shot maybe?? but I heard that it can make it hard to get pg after you go off of it... so what if I change my mind after the twins???

Well, we decided to make it permanent, only because on Metformin, I'm completely regulated and get pg. easily (Caitie was conceived when we were preventing...using condoms). Thay sounds so strange after 13 years of infertility to be saying that. But since we were done, I had a tubal with my c-section. I never did well in the pill even while taking it to "straighten out" my cycles years ago. It only made things worse. I will continue on the Met. because my PCOS symptoms are gone while taking it.

If only there were a pill for men, huh? lol

So Dawn u had a tubal that will prevent preg, but what about your ovaries???
Does the MET alone for you keep them from producing too many cysts??
Even on met, I'm better, but still have cysts and THAT is what worries me.... all those unregulated growths is what CAN lead to cancer (not always, just makes you more subject to it) kwim??

I personally wouldn't mind more kids, if my body can take it after this pg .

My problem (prior to being on Metformin) was that my ovaries produced tons of little follicles, but none developed. So in essence, it looked like a ton of small cysts. But on Metformin, I ovulate and have periods every month...and all the other "unpleasant" symptoms of PCOS (facial hair, acne, dark line around neck, difficulty in losing weight, etc.) have all disappeared. I feel "normal" (if there is such a thing hehe) ever since I've been on it.

I take 2000 mg. a day. I have heard some take as much as 2500 a day. But most take between 1500 mg. and 2000 mg. a day. How much are you on?

I don't blame you for not wanting to do anything permanent. My hubby is 47....and with my other health issues during pg. and my age, we just felt like we were done.

I won't touch depo with a 10 foot pole. It left me with 6 months of nonstop bleeding the last time I took it. Apparently it completely shut down my estrogen production so had they given me regular injections it would've stopped, they just didn't tell me that at the time.

We're not actually going to worry about birth control after this one is born since we'd like to have 1-2 more and it took awhile to get her. When we are done I'm going to seek the advice of my doctor since I don't react well to most hormone treatments. They make me crazy.
