I have extremely low progesterone and had to supplement progesterone with my kid's pg's (until the placenta took over and I could be weaned off of it...about 12weeks) in order to prevent m/c.
Oh and I'd start taking it about 2 days after ovulation. Test for bfp when af was due and stop taking it if no bfp.

I'm taking it too. I started the day after my 2nd IUI, and will be on it for a few more weeks until I'm weaned off.

You could always call your doc and ask about taking it earlier. My previous doc before the RE had me start taking it 7 days after I O'd, the RE had me start the day after the 2nd IUI. Good luck, Marci!! I hope you get that BFP soon!!

I started Prometrium AFTER WE SAW THE HB! And just this past Saturday was switched to weekly Progesterone injections until the 36th week.

I never took it before a BFP. I took a progesterone gel with my first loss but I wasn't put on it till I started spotting at 6 weeks. It stopped the spotting right away, everything was looking good and I kept taking it but the baby only made it to 10 weeks.
For this baby, since Clomid helps increase your progesterone we checked the levels as soon as I got my BFP and they were nice and high in the 30's. So I did not do progesterone this time and so far so good.
That probably wasn't very helpful, but it's my only experience with progesterone supplements.

At my fertility clinic, the RE pretty much puts all of his patients on Prometrium, whether they have a known progesterone deficiency or not. Guess he feels very strongly about it! I always started them 3 days after an IUI (or ovulation) because he wanted to mimic what my body should be doing naturally anyway. Hope this helps!

I would ask for them to check your progesterone levels after ovulation. Mine were only 6 (anything under 5 is considered "did you even ovulate?"). With my son, they continued to monitor my levels until they decided to just go ahead and put me on two injections a day (as the suppositories and gels were not enough...I'd jump between 9 & 13 on the other supplements). The shots did the trick so with my last baby, my doctor went right to the shots. But again, it would be good to check your levels and then do a follow up after supplementation to make sure your levels are over 20 (which is preferable for pg.).

I am going for a progesterone test on CD 21...so that will help clear things up I'm sure...I guess I'm just scared to try, worried about another MC.
