I haven't had much time since she was born so I'm finally updating now. Leela Anne was born on March 1st at 5:20pm. She was 20" & 7lbs. 11oz.
Labor came on super quick. I had BH throughout my whole pregnancy so I guess I warmed up pretty good. At my 38 week appt my OB said I was at 0 dialtion and 0% effacement and she didn't expect me to go into labor for a while still. Well the morning of my 39th week appt I woke up at 4:30am with excruciating contractions and they just kept coming. I didn't know how long I should wait to go in because my doc had told me earlier to labor at home for a while since it's my first baby and then go in when it's getting painful. Well dang, it started off REALLY painful. I just laid there and hubby packed all the last minute items and loaded up the car and off we went. I could barely walk into the hospital. By the time I was checked in, set up with monitors, asked a million questions, they checked me and said I was 5cm all ready. It was the longest wait ever for the epi but it was heaven sent!! I think it slowed down labor though but there was no way I could take that pain any longer. I wanted to try natural but OMG I was dying. DH and I just hung out the rest of the day laughing and having a great time. Pushing wasn't that bad, I think it took about 45 minutes. I had a 1st degree tear but other than that things were good. I was walking around shortly after. Not much sleep at all in the hospital and for the first week at home. I don't know how I survived it, but things are getting better little by little.
Leela had jaundice and was difficult to feed so that was a lot of stress too the 1st week. We finally supplemented with formula and got her weight back up quickly. I was able to go back to breastfeeding and she does great at both the breast and bottle. We're just dealing with tummy ache issues and reflux now. I feel so bad for her when she's crying and hurting. We're trying zantac right now. Mylicon and gripe water have done nothing. I think the new meds are helping some and we're getting a bit more sleep at night now, although she'll only sleep in bed with me. It's nice though waking up and seeing her cute little face next to me.
