Hi ladies,
Mari is almost 13 months old and my period has not returned yet. I am currently on the mini-pill as well as breastfeeding during nights and weekends (but no longer pumping).
I know the mini-pill is not as effective as the regular BC pill, but I'm getting a little worried. I have taken a few hpt last week that were negative (we are not currently TTC), but today I feel unbelievably nauseous and don't know if I should test again??? I'm hoping it's the same stomach bug that plagued my husband earlier in the week.
I wonder how different it might be with ladies who have PCOS? Would that affect anything? When did your periods return?
Thanks!

Rayanne is much younger than Mari...but she is only 5 months, but I only pump twice a day and mine has also not returned....I was kind of wondering the same thing actually.

Are either of you taking Metformin? If so, is your dosage the same as before?
I bf Caitie until two weeks past a year. But when she started weaning down to two to three times a day, my period came back (around 8 months). I've taken Metformin consistently since August 2004. So I "think" that might be why it started back up like clock work. I don't know.

I am not taking Metformin at the moment, but am looking into it. Are you taking BCP as well as the Met?
We moved to a new town before Mari was born, so I've been meaning to find a new OB/GYN in this area and was hoping to discuss doing BC & Metformin at the same time.

No. BCP's always messed me up (prior to Metformin). Never tried it with it because we were either ttc or pg. My tubes are tied now. The Metformin keeps me regular so I don't need bcp's for keeping my cycles regular.

Mine didnt return. I was put on something to help it come. This was before we knew I had PCOS. When We TTC#2 and my Dr found this out he said they should have started investergating then.

No, I am not taking Metformin now...I did to get pregnant with Rayanne...and I did have a period before (however irregular it was) I am down to pumping twice a day, but have only been doing that for about 3 weeks, so maybe my first PPAF is on the way...I also worry it's because I haven't gotten back down to my pre pregnancy weight, and I know my SIL, who also has PCOS, needed to lose a certain amount of weight to have AF start. Anyway, I hope it comes soon so that I can know where I am in my cycle.

Hmm...that is very interesting. I've made an appointment with my new OB/GYN on Dec 10th, so I definitely will bring this up to him...

Hey Tina, do you remember me???? Anyway, I've been super busy and haven't been able to be a regular poster here anymore, but I hope to become more regular.
Noah is 10 months old (TODAY) and I see no signs of AF for me either. We are BF about 6 times a day (3 of those are pumpings during the week). I was told by someone that if the baby is going for longer than 6 hours without nursing, AF can come back. I am also not on metformin but was thinking that maybe I should be. I took Metformin while TTC but it never did anything by itself.
We are thinking of starting to TTC #2, but not sure how that works with BF and PCOS....nothing can ever be simple, right?

Of course I remember you Beth! Glad to see that things are going well and Noah's picture is just precious! Good luck with TTC #2, I hope it happens quickly for you guys!
As for me, I met with my new OB/GYN (whom I love!!) a little earlier than expected because he ended up being scheduled for surgery tomorrow. He did put me back on Metformin (starting with 500mg and eventually to 1000mg daily) and is having me do a "progesterone challenge" to see if AF will come back after taking it for 10 days.
I am also considering having the implant BC (called Implanon) put in since we will not be TTC for at least 3 more years...

Great question!!! I was wondering the same thing. I took Metformin to get regular cycles and to get pregnant too but haven't seen AF since delivery. I have a bad feeling that I may not see her unless I go back on regular birth control and metformin. (I take the mini pill but have been bad about taking it.)

Hi ladies! It's been a while since I've posted here too, and I love seeing how much all our babies are now. I've been wondering the same thing. Mark is 8 months old now, we're still breastfeeding & I pump during the weekdays while he's at daycare. No sign of AF though.

Hey Becky!!! Your son is just so cute!!!!!
I thought I would post an update. OB did put me back on metformin (1500 mg). We are BF about the same except that I'm only pumping 2x during the day now. My OB was very strict that until I stop nursing and pumping, he will not do anything in the way of fertility meds.
I feel pretty certain that my body is trying to get back to "normal". Every couple of weeks, I do see a pink tinge but nothing more. Plus all the PCOS symptoms are back which of course means additional weight. I was so happy to get back to my pre-pg weight so quickly plus lose some.
So our plan for now is to keep nursing and pumping until Noah is 1 (Feb 3) and then he's being switched to cow's milk and then we will wait 8 weeks to see what my body does on it's own and then back to the dr. I really wish something would happen on its own before Noah is 1 so then I don't have to stop nursing, because I don't really want to, but I also want #2.
