Hi im new here and was hoping someone could help me with my puzzle!!! I have done a hpt , it was possitive, but when reading the info leaflet in the pack it says that ovarian cysts can give misleading results
Does anyone know anything about this?? I have searched the internet for info about it and come up with nothing, not sure what it means by misleading results.does it mean it could give a false poss or a false neg or what ?? Any info would be very much apreciated!!! Thank you x

Both, you could get false neg and pos... however if you back them up with charting your temps it becomes a much clearer picture and very much more accurate. Best of luck to you!

You are probably pregnant but I'd get a blood test to be sure. Good luck!!!

Thanks to both of you!! I spoke to my doctor who seemed to have no idea, and its been driving me crazy!! I have done a couple more test are they were both positive too, I have an appointment with a different doctor tomorrow so hopefully she will be able to tell me more!!!

After I reread your original comments, I would agree it sounds like 100% you are pregnant. I hope thats what you want!!! Please let us know what the doc says!!

I think if you have several positive hpts, you're pregnant! Congrats!
I don't think a cyst can cause your hpt to be positve, but I know it can keep your period away and/or cause elevated bbt's. I think the only thing that can secrete hcg is a baby. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

May 07: 150 mg Clomid + Met 1000mg = No O.
July 07: 150 mg Clomid + Met 1000mg = No O.
Aug 07: 200 mg Clomid= No O.
Sep 07- Nov 07: On a TTC Break.
Dec 07: Gonal-f and IUI cycle = BFN
March 08: Waiting to start IVF, but O'd on my own after weight loss!!!!
April 08: TTC with clomid 100 mg= BFN....but happy I o'd again!!!
June 08: Consult with RE to start Gonal-F and IUI cycle.
July 08; Gonal-f and IUI cycle=Cancelled. Too many follies. E2 too high.

Thanks everyone!! I went to the doctors this morning, who said that ovarian cysts can *sometimes* affect the result of a hpt, i have to wait till the start of August take in a sample and they will test, if that comes back positive then they will get me in for an early scan, as she says this is the only way they can be sure!!! I was expecting at least a blood test but nothing!!! which has left me feeling really frustrated,its driving me nuts not knowing!!! Im feeling sick and tired, i have sore boobs and keep going dizzy, so im thinking there is a good chance!! I just dont want to let myself get excited about it , if its going to turn out to be a false alarm!! We were not planning any more children but we will both be happy if it turns out we are!! x
