Ok, because of the meds we used I have a high chance of multiples. When I found out I was pg, I instantly said we have one healthy baby. Today, for some reason, I'm not so sure. I haven't (knock on wood) had any morning sickness or pain in my breasts. I really don't feel pregnant (whatever that is supposed to feel like). If it weren't for all the blood tests, I wouldn't believe I was! So my theory is that if it was multiples I would feel worse, right? My beta numbers have been 42, 192, 609 - they are more than doubling, but not sky rocketing. Any ideas or advice? Do any of you think it could be multiples? My first ultra sound will be at the end of the month and the dr. said they should be able to count then. How do I relax until then!? I have been trying to keep the idea of ONE healthy baby in my head, but everyone around me says "no it'll be twins, you used fertility drugs, it has to be twins!" Sorry for the ramle, thanks for listening.

I was pregnant with twins and NEVER had any morning sickness....as for your Beta #s....here's some to compare....
At 3 wks 6 days pregnat my #s were 297 (very high) and 4 wks 1 day they were 723.......soooooo.....depending on when your HCG levels were taken...you may very well have 2 (or maybe just one REALLY REALLY healthy baby) Good luck

You could ask Astrid in the May DDC board. She is pregnant with triplets. I'm sure she wouldn't mind you asking!

I went thru fertility treatment also. People kept telling us we were going to have multiples, but we only got one! My numbers looked like yours at that same time..I cant remember them exactly but I remember my hcg went from like 200 to 600. I thought we were definatley having twins, but there is only one little bun in this oven. Did you know how many follicles you had mature? That was a tell tell sign for us. Good luck in finding out.

What meds were you on?? I dont know about the others but with Clomid your chances of multiples are only like 5-10% higher than without meds.
Both my DD and this baby were conceived on Clomid and both were only single pregnancies. People hear "fertility treatment" and automatically think "multiples". That's not to say that you wont have twins though. I cant wait to hear the results from your U/S!

Clomid didn't work for me so I was on folistim - a hormone shot and this round we had nine folicles! The doctor suggested we skip this cycle, but we couldn't help but think what if this was our only chance, what if it wouldn't work again. This was our second round of the shots and the first round only made one, so we took the risk. I am glad we did, twins or not, I am just excited to be pregnant. Just a little worried about how I would handle multiples! and about missing too much work - I already had to use seven sick days to get past this hyperstimulation thing. If there is multiples, I may end up on bed rest - real soon if it's triplets or more. I am trying not to worry about it too much though. Thanks for all the help!

I go for more bloodwork (my doc is a vampire I swear ) on Thursday and then they'll schedual an u/s for next week. (My beta number from today was 1723, so more than double, but still not skyrocketing - a good sign that it's only one.) I was told they would be able to see multiples by the first u/s, so I am trying to pass the time until then. This time seems to be going slow - I just want to get to that 12 week mark!

Ok, here are all my beta numbers. 3w4d - 42, 4w2d - 192, 4w5d - 609, 5w2d - 1723, 5w5d - 4671 All seem normal not too high or low and doubling (a little more than doubling) every three days. The nurse who called with the last set of results said everything looked good and that I was done with the beta testing and I made my first ultrasound apointment for 7:45pm on Monday. I am soooo excited. I can't wait to see my little one (and I am really thinking it's only one). I'll let you know what I find out.

Sorry - got a computer bug and couldn't get on till it got fixed. Well....Our ultra sound was on Monday night and we saw baby a and baby b! It is twins - for now. Baby a measured 6w1d, baby b 6w0d which is good, but baby b's heart beat was significantly weeker than baby a. baby a's beat was very loud and 113 beats per min. Baby b was softer and hard to hear but was 101 beats per minute. The doctor said that baby b was viable but because there is such a difference in the strength of heartbeats it may indicate that baby b will be a vanishing twin. We are asking everyone to please, in their own way, pray for baby b (and baby a of course). We are hoping that both babies become strong and healthy. I thought I'd be scared to death to have twins, but now I am elated. When I think of the possibility of loosing one, my heart drops to my feet. This is such an odd combination of feelings - elated to have one healthy baby definately on the way and scared to death about loosing the other. We have another ultrasound next monday and the doctor thought we would be able to tell wether baby b will make it or not by then. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to everyone.

I hope everything turns out fine and you have two healthy babies.
Personally I think it's great that you even had measurable heartrates at 6 weeks. A lot of people don't so soon.
