Well i got the results of the Echo today and i am not the most happy camper. SHe has 2 problems Atrial Spectial defect and Ventrical Spectial defect. These mean she has a hole inbetween her atriums and her ventricals in her heart and we are on our way to the cardiologists on monday. Since she isn't really growing well she is most likely going to be going on meds and maybe even surgury. I am so scared that something is going to happen to her, I still swear i could of done something different but it is too late now. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers she is so little.

Hello,
Popping in from the Dec 07 DDC.

My daughter, Samantha, was born 7 weeks premature and was diagnosed with a VSD in the NICU. She has been on 2 medicines (Digoxin and Lasix) since the NICU and also has very slow weight gain. (She gets tired very easily...no energy) But at her last Ped appt, he couldn't hear a murmur!

I wish your daughter the best of luck, but would like to tell you that the amount of babies who need surgery for the VSD is VERY slim, and the surgery is a very easy procedure.

Good luck!

*hugs* I'm sorry to hear this.

My son was born with Pulmonic Valve stenosis, and ended up in surgery at 15 months old to correct the problem.

His surgery was all done by catheter through his leg, it lasted about 3 hours. He has no scars and his cardiologist is hopefull he will not need any repeat surgerys and expects his heart to be fully healed by June.

He did warn me that he will always have a slight murmur, since the valve is irregular, but that his prognosis is good!
