So, I was talking to Penelope, and she said that someone told her that a support forum like ours would be like blind people trying to lead each other to water. Neither of us agreed with that, and I thought I'd share with you ladies the metaphor I have for what we have here.
We're like a group of emperor penguins in the winter, all huddled against the raging cold. Some are on the inside, surrounded by the warmth of all the penguins around them. Others are on the edge, standing against the wind, protecting those inside. But they take turns. After a while, those on the outside move to the inside and are protected by the others.
That's like what we do here. When we are having our worst moments, we are surrounded by the love and warmth of everyone else. And then, when we're having better moments, we stand against the "wind" protecting those who need it most at the time.
Anyway, it just seemed like a beautiful picture to me and I'd thought I'd share.

WOW.... Britt, I don't think anyone could put that better into words to explain.... this group and what it has ment to me.. Some days I feel I can be the shield... and than like tonight coming on here and knowing you guys are the only ones I can turn.. I need sheltering from the wind.. Thank you, Thank you for being able to shelter me.. and in return letting me be yours and these other amazing women shelter when I am needed. XOXO

Awww, I'm tearing up now. I hate that we all have had to go through this, but at the same time, I feel like it gives us such an amazing bond.

That is an amazing analogy! I don't know what I would have done without all of you over the last year. I'd probably be in a much, much worse place right now. I hate that we have to be here but love how supportive everyone is.

What a great metaphor. Now the pregnancy loss penguin siggy makes total sense. And I wonder how I get one . I have days just like this. Glad I was poking around and found it.
