I lost my pregnancy yesterday.... I was 6w3d and having a lot of pain... they found out it was ectopic. They removed my right tube and I'm resting at home now.

My question is, do you know if you can go on the birth control pill immediately after a loss? Reason is that my body hasn't been ovulating on time at all, and I'm trying to schedule my next treatment cycle. If I wait around for my next period it could be two months, which would place the next medicated cycle's due date right during March or April (My stillbirth was in March, his due date was in April), which I really want to avoid. Plus waiting sucks.

I'm going to call and talk to the nurses, but I was curious if anyone else had done that.... gone on BCP right after a loss... or if they had to wait a cycle.

I started on the pill a week after delivering Cora. My Dr. wanted to see me to make sure I was okay and then gave me the pills and told me to start that day.

Good luck honey.

I know I've posted my condolences on the Stillbirth board, but I have been following your twitter and I'm really, really sorry.

I was on birth control exactly 2 weeks after Ethan was born (1 week after the D&C). I am on it to regulate my cycles so we can try again (in just a few weeks actually). I have to take baby aspirin with it so I don't get a blood clot, but it has definitely regulated things.

I was just started on Birth control to regulate my cycle as well this is a little over 6 weeks after my miscarriage as I have been bleeding the last three weeks. Dr says I should only have to stay on for a month and that should be enough to regulate so we can start trying again

I started mine right after my loss as well so you should be fine.

Well, yes. Ectopics can happen, IVF or natural, same reason - the embryo is just in there, floating around. Where it decides to implant is up to it, and sometimes it picks the wrong spot. In my case, the very END of my follopian tube. Sigh.

HUGS Nat. The girls are right, most doctors say 1-2 weeks after surgery to regulate a period after a loss. I started on CD5 with my last loss (lost her monday, started BC friday).
