Copied from TTCAL board:
So many questions have been going through my mind since I found yesterday that I lost pumpkin. Last night when I was laying in bed this question really got me thinking. Can your body attack a fetus? I know there are clotting disorders and I am hoping to get tested for them. The reason why I ask if your body can attack a fetus is this. With the first lost I had we made it to 6 weeks and some days and this lost we made it to almost 8 weeks. We both of these losses before I found out the baby passed away I had the same thing happen. I thought I got an infection from the u/s. Although thinking last night I remembered I got the same thing with the first lost. I get very itchy down there and red. It's almost like I get a yeast infection but my ob said it's not a yeast infection. After I got it with the first pregnancy peanut passed away. I got it with pumpkin and pumpkin passed away. I was feeling really postive about this pregnancy until the itchiness started. Once the itchiness started that is when I got the feeling something was wrong. The itchiness and the redness started almost right after the u/s and that is when pumpkin died. I am wondering if my body is attacking the fetus thinking it is a foreign object or illness.

I wish I knew the answer to this... Some people think that is possible, but I don't think it is unless you are RH-... I think we all just try finding reasons why it would happen to us. Perhaps there is some infection or something of the sort you might have that could cause complications? I would definitely talk to the doc about it and see if they will get all testing done...

Infection can cause complications and possibly lead to m/c I think. I wouldn't think your body is attacking the fetus though. I would ask if its possible you are allergic to something that they use in the u/s. I am assuming you had a transvaginal u/s. I would talk to your dr about your concerns. I think its valid to be worried.

Did they use latex with the vaginal u/s? If so you might be allergic to that and it may cause the itching and redness. After my 2nd m/c and doing countless hours of research online about what may or may not cause a m/c, there are just sooo many unknowns. With my first m/c I thought I caused it by drinking 1 soda and getting my hair highlighted. I was torturing myself trying to find out what could have caused it. With my 2nd pregnancy I did everything by the book right and had a healthy baby. With my 3rd pregnancy I did absolutely everything right too and I still m/c. We just had some blood work drawn to see if we can get some answers, but if nothing comes from it then what? Just too many unknowns.
