Hi ladies, just felt like I wanted to tell someone---I made the decision to go get a copy of the pathology report from the D&C I had. I was thinking, I really hope I can find out if it was a boy or girl. Sad thing is, and I wasn't thinking this might happen, is that the pathology report indicated there was no baby present in what was submitted to pathology. So I had already lost the baby prior to that, so I won't be able to find out if it was a boy or girl. I'm sad about that, I guess I felt in the back of my mind that that if I wanted to know, that maybe I could find out. But now I know I won't be able to. I still think it was a girl, but now I can't know for sure. Just sad and disappointed.

I am sorry dear. I know what you mean about wanting to know. With my first loss I didn't think I wanted to know but when she called and told us it gave me a sort of closure. I was able to name our son and knowing that he was in fact a he made him more"real" to me. I'm sorry you aren't able to find out. Have you thought about giving the baby a gender neutral name just for some closure?

Katie,
I already did give her a nickname...Little Bud. (Like a flower bud that hasn't opened yet.) I guess I just feel bad for it being just a nickname and not a real name...such as how I would have named a baby girl if I knew it was a girl for sure. Hopefully she doesn't mind her name...I guess it's silly but I don't want her to be upset with me for not having a "real" name.
Thanks Katie, I'm glad you got some closure with your first, were you thinking it was a boy and it turned out to be one? Just curious.
I'm sure it will all work out in the end, just a bump in the road!

Actually I knew when I found out I was pregnant that it was a boy! I just had a gut feeling I had always called him Jelly Bean but once we knew he was a boy I felt better about naming him. I searched for a long time until I picked Noah. For whatever reason I just felt it suited him. Even having a nickname is nice. I just felt the need to be able to call him by name and not boy or baby. I'm here if you ever need to talk dear.

I'm sorry, hun. I wish I'd been able to find out the gender of mine, too. I'm sure she doesn't mind that she has a nickname instead of a "real" name. I'm sure she's happy that you are keeping her memory alive and love her so much.

My husband and I did not know the gender of our Angel baby either. He had a strong feeling that it was a girl and we are sticking to that. We had called the baby Tadpole all along and continue to use that name when we speak of her. We did have names picked out but our first child will forever be known as Tadpole. We plan to have another child using the names we had picked out.
